Teens with a Purpose

In August of 2011, Teens with a Purpose held a fundraiser at Elements of Waterside, in Norfolk.  The event was hosted by the Executive Director, Deirdre Love.  The Mistress of Ceremony for the event was Ariane Aramburo, the co-host of the Hampton Roads Show on Fox 43. 

Teens with a Purpose is an active, teen led organization who' goal is the raise awareness among young people, to encourage conscious decisions and possible consequences of their actions thus reducing their risk of: HIV/STIs, teen pregnancy, dating, bullying, suicide, gang violence and high school dropouts.  Their goal is that youth gain a sense of pride, empowerment, and the knowledge to make big change with better choices.

LGBT Volunteer Opportunites

The AIDS FUND:

Volunteers provided more than 10,000 hours of service to The AIDS Fund in the past twelve months, enabling us to minimize costs and maximize services.Individual or group volunteers have the opportunity to share the most valuable resources they have; time and experience. Working as a volunteer is an excellent way to support the community in which we live.

Specific needs: BINGO volunteers Sat 1030am-430pm and Sun 430pm-1030pm at Suburban Hall.

ACCESS AIDS Care:

Mission: Our mission is to promote the dignity and wellness of adults, families, youth and children impacted by HIV/AIDS through quality support and prevention services so they may live healthy lives.

At ACCESS AIDS Care we have worked to adapt our services to the advances that have been made to fight HIV and AIDS. Individuals are now living longer with the disease, but their need for services from ACCESS AIDS Care has not diminished. In addition, the face of HIV/AIDS is constantly changing and it is our commitment to our community to serve those children, women and men who are affected by HIV/AIDS.
