Virginia Prides’s Board of Directors is proud to assist members of the LGBT Community and their family, friends and supporters with the expenses of post high school education. In 2009, three scholarships were awarded which emphasize service to the community. There will be five, $500 scholarships awarded in 2011.

The AIDS Fund is sponsoring its annual Toy Drive and Christmas Meal Baskets giveaway. They are looking for support in to help provide toys for 35 children aged 8 and over and 14 Christmas Meal Baskets. These toys and baskets will be given to families that normally do not receive these items during the holiday season.
Your donation would enable these families to have a very merry Christmas. Donations can be dropped off at 9229 Granby Street, Norfolk, VA 23503 or call at 757-583-1317 to make arrangements to pick up the donations.
Your Out Source, a Virginia-based non-profit organization announces the launch of a comprehensive resource and team building organization for the LGBT community. Your Out Source is Hampton Roads only LGBT resource that provides information and details for all organizations, events and resources for the LGBT Community. It is the mission of this organization to equip the community with the resources necessary to inspire individual and corporate change in a positive manner and create advocacy so that this change for the LGBT community can occur. Partnerships with other community-based organizations are key in every program designed by Your Out Source. It is the belief of the organization that positive change will occur on a larger scale and more efficiently if gaps are bridged between organizations, and Your Out Source aims to assist them in working together on behalf of the entire LGBT community.
The area's first center for the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community will host its grand opening on Friday evening in Norfolk.
